About Densivor
Densivor is an independent educational resource dedicated to explaining food energy density, meal volume characteristics, satiety mechanisms, and their relationships to dietary intake patterns.
Purpose
Densivor exists to provide clear, scientifically-informed explanations of how food composition—particularly water content, fiber, and fat—determines energy density. We explore how meal volume interacts with physiological satiety signals through stretch receptor activation and nutrient sensing. We present research findings on energy density and food intake without commercial agenda or dietary recommendation.
What We Offer
Our content includes:
- Definition and calculation of energy density (kcal/g and kcal/100g)
- Explanations of compositional factors determining energy density
- Physiological mechanisms of gastric distension and nutrient sensing
- Summaries of laboratory studies on energy density and satiety
- Observational patterns from population research on dietary energy density
- Food examples organized by energy density category
What We Don't Do
Densivor is not:
- A dietary advice service or nutritional counseling platform
- A weight management program or system
- A medical or health information service
- A commercial platform selling products or services
- Offering personal recommendations or individualised guidance
Our Approach
We follow these principles:
- Educational: Our goal is to explain concepts, describe phenomena, and provide context—not to advise, persuade, or influence decisions
- Transparent: We clearly distinguish between established scientific findings, areas of active research, and interpretive discussion
- Independent: We have no commercial interests, product sales, or financial incentives tied to dietary decisions
- Accurate: We aim for factual accuracy in presenting research and physiological mechanisms
Research and Sources
Information on Densivor is based on established scientific research in nutrition, physiology, and food science. We draw on peer-reviewed literature and established physiological principles. However, we acknowledge that scientific understanding evolves, research has limitations, and individual variation is substantial.
